We always expect “Dance Like We’re Making Love” singer Ciara to nail it on the red carpet, but the 30-year-old’s look for the American Music Awards Sunday night in L.A. simply blew us away. The star and proud mother showcased her killer physique in a totally sheer Reem Acra design that left little to the imagination. Covered in strategically placed embellishments, the black gown featured a high-neck detail along with long sleeves and a floor-length train that helped the beauty dazzle.

Ciara kept the look simple with a pair of Stuart Weitzman sandals and H.Stern rings, but what was the inspiration behind her unforgettable ensemble? “I actually talked to Rob and Mariel [her stylists] early and we always kind of talk in advance for nights like this. I wanted to do something a little sheer—she made my sheer dream come true,” she told InStyle of her “very comfortable” dress.

So how does an award-winning R&B crooner prepare for one of music’s biggest nights? The answer is with family, she explained. “I wake up and have fun time with my baby. We talk a little bit, we play a little bit, and laugh a little bit,” she added. “I came to the trailer, hung out with my team, ate some good food—you’ve got to have food.” The talent was also keeping track of how her current beau, Seattle Seahawks star Russell Wilson, played against the San Francisco 49ers. The verdict? They won 29-13.

Games aside, Ciara was prepared for a celebratory evening. “This is one of the most prestigious nights in music,” she said. “I mean, it just doesn’t get any better than nights like this. You get to see the best performers in the world come together. It’s really cool. Music’s pretty powerful, so it’s fun.”
